Rate Changes
The board met in 2024 and approved water rate increases as outlined in the following document. The summary is a $40/month maintenance fee charge to fund the water system replacement project, plus a 3% annual increase in the base rate to cover increased operating costs.
- Jan 2025: Basic charge increased to $257.50 every 4 months
- over 4000 ft³ charged at $3.40 per 100 ft³.
- over 8000 ft³ charged at $3.81 per 100 ft³.
- Nov 2025: Basic charge increased to $265.23 every 4 months
- over 4000 ft³ charged at $3.51 per 100 ft³.
- over 8000 ft³ charged at $3.93 per 100 ft³.
In 2025, the board approved a change to the schedule for annual rate increases to align with the billing cycle. Future 3% increases start in November rather than January.
Recent Water System Updates
-
Aug 19-20 2026: We had maintenance with NWS scheduled Aug 19 to repair several leaks in the pumphouse. NWS
completed the work, but pressure did not return to normal the remainder of the day.
On the morning of Aug 20, we confirmed that everything in the pumphouse had power and seemed to be operational. At this point we believed that turning the system back on caused a leak somewhere. We walked the system, but found no leaks anywhere, so we called NWS to come back out, and they arrived around 2pm. After an hour of investigation, they found that a valve that should be left off got turned on and that was bleeding the pressure from the pressure tank into the reservoir. Pressure returned to normal around 3pm. -
July 3rd 2025: We started to have low water pressure in the system. Nothing at the pump
house appeared
to be wrong. Over the next couple days, we continued to have low pressure, and the reservior was
found to be low. We called Northwest Water Service (NWS) out to help 2 leaks that were
identified.
The first was a small leak on a lateral line between two homes on the west end of 282nd st. The second leak was large. While nearly all of our lines run in the right of way next to the streets, we do have one line that was put along a back fence line at the north edge of the system. Currently that area is covered with blackberries, so it can be difficult to know if we have a leak in that line.
We did indeed have a break back there, a union had been eroded over time by a small leak, and now it was leaking a lot. You can see the union and the blackberries covering this area below.
- July 9,10 2025: We've been having problems with our chlorine pump; it stopped adding chlorine. NWS was out for a couple days, and was able to rebuild the pump. So Chlorine levels are back to normal.
